Yet another reason that your business needs a clean, usable website is that you want to create a positive impression of your company and your brand - basically, you don’t want to annoy your visitors.  That Blog has a great overview of the top ten ways that web design can annoy users.  Of course, a good web design company avoids all of these issues; however, we occasionally find even the biggest companies guilty of these problems.

Here’s the list:

1.  Pop-ups - most visitors will have them blocked, but why even do it?

2.  Slow loading pages - we’ve mentioned the pitfalls of slow load times before.

3.  Flash intros (that you can’t skip).

4.  Sites that needs extra software.

5.  No contact information - we’ve mentioned the obvious flaw that is the lack of contact info before as well.

6.  Bad navigation - if your visitors can’t find anything, they definitely won’t stick around or convert to customers and clients.

7.  Clutter - clean design is a key part of a usable website.

8.  Unreadable text - use contrasting colors and simple fonts.

9.  Out of date sites - update early and update often, and get a blog.

10.  Registration required - obviously you want to get your visitors’ information, but don’t lock your whole site behind a registration wall.
