Font Choice, Usability, and Web Design

As a web design company that understands the importance of creating clean, usable business websites, we understand that many factors affect your website’s usability, including navigation, color selection, and internal linking.  One of the major factors, however, is something that many people don’t even really consider- the choice of font.  Besides being a key design decision that affects the tone and feeling of the site, a font that is easy to read is an important factor in your site’s overall usability.

Of course, any font that is incredibly complicated or elaborate has no place on a business website - you don’t want your users to have a hard time reading your content, after all.  Furthermore, the type of font used also depends on the purpose of the website; for instance, a baby gear company could get away with a pastel-colored, rounded typeface, but that kind of font would be completely wrong on a website that advertised professional B2B services.
